Welcome.  We're so glad you're here.

A letter from Karen, Director of Enrollment

Welcome to the admissions section of the Sabot School website. We’re so glad you’re here.

At Sabot, we believe that children are capable, curious, and full of potential. Our approach to education begins with honoring the image of the child—seeing each child as a person of meaning, deserving of confidence and respect. We know that children’s ideas are meaningful and actionable, and we use them as a springboard for learning and as the pathway through which our curriculum unfolds.

Our Teacher-Researchers engage with students in ways that honor their thinking and individuality, helping them develop self-worth, confidence, and a strong sense of identity. Sabot children grow comfortable expressing themselves—whether with peers or adults—and learn to value their own voices.

Just as important as how children learn is where they learn. Our 28-acre campus, surrounded by a 100-acre forest, invites daily exploration and discovery. Time spent outdoors is not an add-on at Sabot—it is an extension of the classroom and a vital part of how children grow, learn, and thrive here. Whether testing the pH of creek water, holding Socratic seminars under the trees, or researching architectural features of campus buildings, much of our curriculum happens outside.

I warmly invite you to visit our campus, experience the joyful energy of our classrooms and outdoor spaces, and see how our approach to education nurtures your child’s curiosity, confidence, and love of learning.

We look forward to welcoming you.

With joy,

Karen Hurlbert

LET US PARTNER WITH YOU IN OUR

Admissions Steps

The child is an active learner, seeking the meaning of the world from birth; a co-creator of knowledge, identity, culture and values; a citizen, the subject of rights, not needs; and born with 'a hundred languages'.
