POSITION DESCRIPTION
Sabot School, a progressive Preschool–8th Grade leader in the Reggio Emilia Approach®, seeks a visionary and skilled Director of Auxiliary Programs to lead high-quality, mission-aligned programming beyond the school day.
The Director of Auxiliary Programs will be responsible for building an auxiliary program that includes:
- Beyond the Classroom (BTC), a vibrant after-school enrichment program aligned with student interests and school values
- Expanding athletic offerings during the school year
- Reliable, engaging Extended Day coverage across all grades-Kindergarten through eighth grade
- A reimagined Summer Program serving Preschool through 8th Grade, including weekly day camp offerings, themed one-week classes, and an adventurous, mission-aligned capstone program: Trailblazer Adventure Camp

ESSENTIAL TASKS
This position is responsible for four separate programs, the responsibilities of each are listed below. In addition to these tasks, the Director of Enrichment Programs should expect to collaborate with other members of the administrative team, attending a variety of meetings each week.
Athletics
- Expand inclusive, skill-based sports beyond soccer
- Hire and support coaches; manage schedules and communication
- Align with child development and Sabot’s values; oversee budget
Beyond the Classroom (BTC)
- Curate after-school enrichment for Preschool–Grade 8
- Manage partners, registration, payments, and budget
- Align with school calendar and meet revenue goals
Extended Day
- Oversee daily K–8 Extended Day operations, staffing, and budget
- Create developmentally appropriate programming
- Ensure licensing compliance and family communication
Summer Programs
- Design and run seven weeks of summer offerings for Preschool–Grade 8
- Manage staffing, logistics, and partnerships
- Ensure safety, quality, and smooth operations
Additional Responsibilities
- Coordinate childcare for “Extra Days” (e.g., faculty PD days, evening events)
- Participate in regular admin team meetings
- Take on additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in programming, education, or nonprofit leadership, ideally in an independent school
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Must pass a background check
- Able to travel locally; Virginia driver’s license preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time during supervision and activities both indoors and outdoors..
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (e.g., lifting children, materials, or equipment).
- Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend down to the child's level for supervision, assistance, and engagement in activities.
- Ability to assist children with physical needs, such as helping with mobility, eating, or restroom routines.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, which may include running, lifting, or assisting children to safety.
- Ability to supervise children during physical activities, such outdoor play, while remaining alert to potential safety hazards.
