Shayla Riggs

Shayla received her bachelor’s degree in community engagement and education from the University of New Hampshire in 2014. She spent 4 years serving her community in seacoast New Hampshire working as a violence prevention educator at her local interpersonal violence crisis center. Upon moving to central Virginia, Shayla completed a postgraduate teaching certification program at the University of Richmond, part of which included a student teaching experience at Sabot, followed by classroom experience in Richmond Public Schools. She is excited to be back, and is looking forward to sharing her interests in music, trauma informed practices, and culturally relevant pedagogy with her colleagues, her students, and their families.
