Melanie Nan

Melanie has been a career teacher for over 30 years. She earned her undergraduate degree in education in England, a Master’s in Education at the University of Virginia, and a Virginia state endorsement in teaching the gifted and talented, also from the University of Virginia.

Melanie has always wanted to teach. She loves discovering the new alongside her students and she loves that she learns as much as they do each year. Melanie and her students love “going big” whether it is building an outside classroom, designing and engineering a 20-foot long wall mural, or creating large scale sculptures to represent the children’s learning each year.

In 2019 Melanie was published in “Beautiful Stuff from Nature,” a book edited by Cathy Weisman Topal and Lella Gandini. In addition to her work at Sabot, Melanie is a co-teacher at Mary Baldwin University where she teaches a course on Assessment.
