Jen Miller

For Jen Miller, the bottom line in her educational practice is joy. On the surface, a simple word, but the reality is immense. Without joy, we wouldn’t see children taking risks, accepting failure as a learning tool, bringing their knowledge outside of the classroom with excitement and applying it to new situations, and using their curiosity to drive questions.

Jen brings a wealth of experience to the classroom having worked as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years and also serving as a reading tutor and teacher. She earned her BA in Psychology and Early Childhood Education from James Madison University. Her Master of Education in Multicultural Education from George Mason University, and another Master of Education in Reading from the University of Virginia.

In an effort to pursue a way to honor the image of the child in a standardized curriculum, Jen brought the Reggio Emilia approach to a Chesterfield County School. For three years, she worked with pedagogist Pam Oken-Wright bringing Reggio Emilia to her school, attending a Study Group in Reggio Emilia in April 2019.
