Beth Kurtz

Prior to joining the teaching team at Sabot, Beth enjoyed many years as a preschool teacher in Baltimore. She considers herself fortunate to have worked in schools there with a Reggio and child-centered approach. Her focus as a teacher has been to build compassionate, joyful, investigative, and collaborative classroom cultures with children. She believes strongly that children are scientists, explorers, and artists; that each child is unique as an individual, with their own character and insight to add to our world.

A native of Florida, she earned her Bachelor’s degree at Florida State University in Studio Art. She worked as a freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator until re-focusing her career as an in-home caregiver when her children were young. She went on to have many rewarding years substitute teaching for public schools while raising her family in Orlando.

Outside the classroom, Beth can be found painting, reading, and exploring the world near and far, camera or sketchbook in hand . . . however, for her, spending time with children is her true joy.
