Elaine Phillips

Sabot has been a part of Elaine’s life in some way for the last 20 years. In graduate school, a professor suggested she apply for a teaching job at a small preschool named Sabot School. As Elaine says, “That decision changed my life!” Elaine taught at what was a small preschool for a few years before stepping away to raise her two children and to move to England for a few years. Once she and her family returned to Richmond, Elaine picked up where she left off, teaching in the Rainbow Room, but now at the newly-emerged Sabot School. Besides being a mother and a teacher, Elaine is a passionate native plant grower, amateur naturalist, and novice genealogist. She raises chickens and has 2 cats and spends as much time as she can in her yard watching birds.
