Carol-Margaret Bitner

Carol-Margaret worked in K-12 education, both public and private in Europe and in the U.S., as a teacher and administrator for more than 25 years. Throughout her career, she has continued to ask the question, “how can we make schools a better learning environment for all our students?”

She came to Richmond and to Sabot in 2021 after living in France for seventeen years, where she was Head of School for the American School of Grenoble for eleven years. During this time, she led her school through accreditation as well as a strategic planning process. Carol-Margaret also developed and launched a community service-learning program. Prior to that, she was a teacher-researcher and the assistant director of afterschool programs in the San Francisco Bay Area and a classroom teacher in the Oakland Public School system.

Carol-Margaret earned her masters in education and the science of teaching from Mills College and a bachelor’s from Miami University.
