Devin Harclerode

Devin holds a BFA in Painting from the University of Florida and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before joining Sabot, Devin taught art in higher education at universities in Virginia, Utah, and Florida. A core sentiment of her teaching philosophy is to consider the intersectionality of all things, and how art as with everything cannot be made in a vacuum. She was drawn in by Sabot School for its progressive pedagogy and became interested in shifting careers to teach younger kids for the opportunity to be a part of a more impactful environment that centers critical thinking and localized pedagogies. Something she believes is reflected in higher education, but is necessary at all ages. Outside of being an educator, Devin is an artist and spends her time making and showing work that speculates about alternative systems and ways of living. She works in multiple mediums such as: textiles, paintings, performance, and video.
