Alexis Atkinson

Before joining Sabot School, Alexis worked in higher education as a tutor, instructional assistant, and peer mentor. She also worked as a camp counselor at Powhatan County’s annual cross country camp with preschool-aged children and assisted in a private daycare. She believes in allowing children to pursue their own passions and curiosities to better cultivate their identity. And she encourages them to create along the way!

Alexis earned her Bachelors at Virginia Commonwealth University in Art History as well as an Associates in Liberal Arts and a Certificate in Fine Arts while attending Brightpoint Community College. She worked in museums for much of her career, but early education is a true calling. Her goal is to return to school to study how to develop engaging and educational art exhibits for all ages.

Outside of work, Alexis paints, goes on walks, plays video games, or watches various TV series. She also spends time caring for her very spoiled cat, Ms. Sarah.
